University Supervisors

We are deeply grateful to our university supervisors for their guidance, expertise, and commitment to supporting students throughout their student teaching experience. As the university’s representative, the supervisor serves as a mentor, evaluator, and liaison, helping candidates grow into reflective and effective educators. University supervisors are also expected to participate in monthly meetings led by the Assistant Dean and Certification Officer to receive program updates, ensure consistency in supervision and assessment practices, and engage in ongoing professional learning and collaboration.

University supervisors support teacher candidates by:

  • Guiding students in their transition into the teaching profession.
  • Clarifying program expectations, requirements, and assignments in collaboration with the cooperating teacher.
  • Conducting regular observations and providing timely, constructive feedback
  • Leading pre-conferences, post-conferences, and triad meetings to support reflection and growth.
  • Monitoring student progress and identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Supporting lesson planning, instructional delivery, and professional goal setting.
  • Collaborating with cooperating teachers to ensure a meaningful and successful student teaching experience.
  • Evaluating student performance, completing formative and summative evaluations and assigning a grade
  • Serving as a liaison between the school/district and the university.
