The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) requires candidates seeking Elementary Education Certification (Grades PK-6, endorsement # 305) to successfully complete the Praxis II Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects assessments AND The Foundations of Reading Assessment.
Important Notes:
- Candidates may take the four Praxis II subtests separately OR together using test code 5001.
- The Foundations of Reading test is administered separately through Pearson.
- The School of Education at Central cannot recommend teacher candidates for certification until they have successfully passed the Praxis Subject Assessment, the Foundations of Reading Assessment, and all other program requirements.
- While many Central students pass on their first attempt, others may need to retake it—and that’s okay! We strongly encourage you take the exam early, giving yourself time to retest if needed before finishing your program.
- You must wait one full month between test dates. This helps to ensure a fair and consistent testing process for everyone.
