All placements are coordinated by the Dean’s Office. For student teaching, candidates are encouraged to indicate their preferences on the student teaching application, which is distributed the semester prior to placement. While preferences are considered, candidates may not independently arrange their own placements.

Student teaching is a full-time commitment. Candidates must attend every day, follow the school’s schedule, and arrive on time.

Notify your cooperating teacher and university supervisor as soon as possible. Missed time  must be made up.

Lesson plans must be submitted at least two days in advance to allow for review and feedback.

Yes. All candidates are expected to complete a full takeover of teaching responsibilities for a designated period. Please refer to the student teaching handbook.

You are evaluated through the CPAST rubric, formal observations, and ongoing feedback that is documented in SL&L.

The university supervisor assigns the final grade in consultation with the cooperating teacher.

Student teaching requires full-time commitment. Employment should not interfere with your responsibilities.

Concerns are addressed through a structured process that may include a meeting, a Professional Growth Plan (PGP), and ongoing support.

Students will not be placed in another setting during the same semester. Next steps will be discussed at a required meeting with the university supervisor, program coordinator, and the Dean’s Office.
