Candidates seeking Connecticut Secondary Education Certification (grades 4-12) must meet subject-specific assessment requirements by the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE). In most secondary certification areas, candidates are required to pass the corresponding Praxis II content assessment for their endorsement area.
Important Notes:
- The School of Education at Central cannot recommend teacher candidates for certification until they have successfully passed the Praxis Subject Assessment and/or ACTFL Assessment, and all other program requirements.
- While many Central students pass on their first attempt, others may need to retake it—and that’s okay! We strongly encourage you take the exam early, giving yourself time to retest if needed before finishing your program.
- You must wait one full month betweentest dates. This helps to ensure a fair and consistent testing process for everyone.
