Resilience & Culture in South Korea

This immersive study abroad program in South Korea offers first-year students the opportunity to explore the country’s rich cultural heritage, dynamic modern society, and diverse perspectives. Through experiential learning in Seoul and Jeju, students will develop a deeper understanding of global diversity by examining the culture, history, and politics that shape Korean society.

The course fosters curiosity and openness by encouraging first-year students to engage with new opportunities, innovative ideas, and alternative ways of thinking. Participants will navigate unfamiliar and challenging settings, building resilience as they adapt to new cultural norms and experiences. Activities include visits to historical and cultural sites, including the DMZ, as well as an opportunity to meet with students and faculty at CCSU’s partner institution, Kyung Hee University, to discuss their academic journeys.

By the end of the program, students will have developed cross-cultural competencies that enhance their ability to appreciate diverse perspectives, think critically in a global context, and confidently engage with the world in New Britain and beyond.
