Move In Information: Fall 2026

Welcome to Central! We are very excited about your decision to live with us this fall. To make move in day as smooth as possible for everyone, please refer to the information below.

Welcome Letter from the Director

Important Dates:

Sunday August 23rd: Freshman and Transfer student move in 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Monday August 24th: Continuing Students move in 10:00 a.m. -  6:00 p.m.

Tuesday August 25th: First Day of Classes!

Prepare to Move In

  1. Move-In Prep Checklist

    • Complete all required university health requirements.
    • Pay any required fees.
    • Review housing emails and move-in information.
    • Connect with your roommate.
    • Begin packing and preparing for move-in.

  2. Plan Ahead

    • Make sure you have selected your move in time slot in the MyHousing portal. This will be available starting in August.
    • Review our list of Restricted Items to make sure to leave those items at home.
    • Check out our What to Bring section below for suggestions on what to bring.
      • Students living in non-air-conditioned residence halls should bring a fan. A compact air circulator, like the Woozoo 5-Speed Globe Fan, provides strong airflow while saving space. Please visit our Residence Life Frequently Asked Questions for more information or call the Office of Residence Life at 860-832-1660.

  3. Packing Tips 

    • Pack in plastic bins rather than cardboard boxes.
    • Label everything for easier unpacking.
    • Coordinate shared items with roommates, such as tvs and microfridge units.
    • Bring only essentials—rooms fill up quickly.
    • Bring a foldable utility wagon or dolly for move-in.

  4. Move In Parking Instructions

    1. Complete the Parking Permit Card 

      Before arriving on campus, students must complete the designated parking permit card. 

    2. Print and Display the Parking Permit Card

      Please print the parking permit card, fill it out and bring it with you. When you arrive on campus, place the card on the front driver-side windshield while your vehicle is parked for unloading.

    3. Move Vehicle Within 15 Minutes

      After unloading, return to your vehicle within 15 minutes and relocate it to your assigned long-term parking lot or garage.

      *We strongly encourage students to bring fans if they are living in a residence hall without air conditioning. Temperatures can creep up during the first few weeks of the semester during the day, though evening and nighttime temperatures offer a chance for the building to cool off. Respite areas are spaces where students can take a break during the warmer daytime hours; respite areas available to residential students include any other residence hall with air conditioning, Memorial Hall, the Student Center, and Elihu Burritt Library.

      **Acceptable Furniture Items: Students are permitted to bring the following items:

      • Butterfly, papasan, or tailgate chairs that can be folded
      • New wooden, metal, or plastic shelves no taller than 48”
      • Plastic storage bins

      * Microwave & Refrigerator Information:

      • For a Standard Hall: 1 refrigerator (maximum 3.2 cubic feet, Energy Star
        rated) and 1 microwave (not to exceed 700w) are allowed per room.
      • For a Suite: 1 refrigerator (maximum 3.2 cubic feet, Energy Star rated) are allowed per bedroom plus one extra in the common area. 1 microwave (not to exceed 700w) is allowed per suite.
      • Note; If using microfridge combination units, they must be one-plug technology.

    Central Connecticut State University does not assume financial responsibility for damages or theft of students' personal property. The Department of Residence Life highly recommends that each student consider purchasing renters' insurance. Renters insurance is not mandatory and may be purchased from any source.
