Workers' Compensation

Worker's compensation is a mandatory program provided by the State of Connecticut, which provides payment of medical expenses and lost wages for employees who suffer work related injuries or illness. This system may also provide other benefits for those who qualify. Connecticut General Statutes regulate what benefits are due to an injured employee.

When an injury occurs at work and the injury does not require immediate emergency* medical treatment, please follow these steps:

  1. An injured employee reports the workplace injury to their supervisor immediately. The employee seeks appropriate medical attention from a designated initial treatment provider, within the State's WCOMP managed care network. Please click on the links to view a PHS Provider Search and Pharmacy Locator. For immediate (non-emergency) treatment, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (no appointment necessary), employee may go to:
    1. THOCC Occupational Health

    2. Concentra
      972A West Main Street
      New Britain, CT 06053
      (860) 827-0745
  2. The supervisor must gather the facts regarding the incident – date, time of day, location, how the injury occurred and injury type. See Supervisor's Guide to Workers' Compensation Claim Reporting
  3. The supervisor will then complete the Injury Report Form and report the injury to MedInsights (1-800-828-2717) to establish the claim in their automated system.
  4. The supervisor must then forward the original forms (signed) via interoffice mail to Human Resources, Attn: Norma Rivera, Davidson Hall Room 201. Norma can be reached for questions at (860) 832-2305 or norma.rivera@ccsu.edu.
