Department of Engineering

Engineering the Future with Expertise

The Central Department of Engineering is known for its blend of analytical and practical education. Our faculty have almost 300 combined years of industry experience, and so know what skills and abilities our students will need. Our small classes and focus on undergraduate education mean that our students are well prepared for any future they choose.

We offer five different undergraduate degrees: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, and Manufacturing Engineering Technology. At the graduate level, we offer an MS in Mechanical Engineering. We have an accelerated option that enables students to earn their BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering in as little as five years. We offer Official Certificate Programs in Additive Manufacturing and in Systems Engineering.

The students in our department come from a wide range of backgrounds. Many have significant prior experiences including military service and full-time employment in industry. This diversity, along with the many student clubs, including the FSAE race car, Steel Bridge, and the Society of Women Engineers, means that our students are a unique source of strength in our department.
