A great volunteer experience awaits students, faculty, staff and community friends alike with two different  VITA training programs – one on December 9th and 10th (8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. each day) and a second just before classes start in January. For those who may not know, VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) is an IRS sponsored program providing free tax preparation and e-filing by IRS certified VITA volunteers to low income individuals and families. Volunteers are trained over 2 days at the end of which they receive IRS certification with a passing exam score. The VITA trainers work diligently to ensure maximum learning to encourage a high percentage pf passing exam scores. Learning tax law and the tax preparation software are key take-aways of the training, allowing volunteers to provide VITA services, usually a 3 to 4 hour commitment per week during the tax season. Those wishing to provide other services at the VITA sites such as greeting the clients are also welcome.

Get more information for The Village, which conducts training on December 9th and 10th on campus (in RVAC computer lab classrooms).
