Take a deep breath! Being on academic probation can be overwhelming. The Learning Center is here to help you get the skills and support needed to raise your GPA.
All students on academic probation are required to complete a mandatory academic intervention provided by The Learning Center. These interventions are designed to help you improve your academics. It is crucial that you commit to your academic success this semester and fully complete your academic intervention!
Important things to know about academic probation:
Students who get below a 2.0 cumulative GPA are placed on academic probation
Students on academic probation are required to enroll in and complete a mandatory academic intervention
The Learning Center offers multiple academic intervention options. Some interventions are restricted based on number of credits earned at CCSU
Once on probation, students have one semester to achieve at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA
Students who do not achieve a 2.0 cumulative GPA after their probationary semester will be dismissed from the University
Students who successfully complete an academic intervention will be eligible to appeal for a second semester of academic probation, without documentation of an extenuating circumstance (see policy on academic dismissal)
Academic dismissal and the appeal process:
Students must write a formal, type-written letter of appeal to the dean of their academic school stating new information that demonstrates a strong probability of academic success or documentation of an extenuating circumstance in order to appeal academic dismissal
Notifications for dismissal and appeal decisions will be emailed to students' official CCSU email and mailed home
Appeal decisions are made individually by the Dean of each academic school
