Who do I meet with to select courses and/or plan my program?
If you are a continuing student, you must meet with your faculty advisor for your major. If you are a NEW student, you will see the appropriate advising center. Click here for Center information.
How do I know which math and/or writing class I need to take?
Students who submit SAT/ACT scores or math/writing transfer credits can be placed in the appropriate courses. Students are encouraged to take the math placement test or writing placement survey as soon as possible, when applicable.
When do I register for classes?
You will receive a reminder email (my.ccsu.edu) from the Registrar's Office when is close to advising time. You must reach out to your advisor to schedule an appointment and receive your Registration PIN. Your registration date will be based on credits completed. Check here.
What is the purpose of the Registration PIN and when is it issued?
The Registration PIN is designed to ensure that a student meets with his/her academic advisor and receives advising before registration.
Can I obtain my PIN via e-mail or phone?
No, the PIN cannot be given out on the phone or by e-mail.
Will I use the PIN for registration while I am a student at the university?
No, the PIN is used only during your initial registration as a new student. Continuing students di not require a PIN.
What happens if lose my pin number?
You can contact your advisor, the SEST Advising Center, Student Services Center (if you have received prior advising) or your department (if you have received prior advising) to get your PIN.
When and where can I drop classes?
Students are encourage to consult with their advisor prior to dropping any courses. There are specific add/drop and withdrawal timeframes students should be aware of.
When and where can I withdraw from classes?
Students are encouraged to consult with their advisor prior to withdrawing from any course. A "W" will appear on your record. Beyond the twelfth week there must be proof of extenuating circumstance to get a withdrawal.
How can I get enrolled into a class that is closed (full)?
Students should contact the faculty and the chair of the department offering the course. The chairperson will tell you if it is possible for you to get into a specific class and will provide instructions to do so. Each academic department has their own process for considering closed class access.
How do I get a prerequisite override?
You must contact the chair of the department offering the course to get a prerequisite override. You must show proof that you have the perquisite for the course.
