On-Campus Student Employment

Central’s Career Development Office highly encourages students to gain real-world work experience. While we empower students to enter the workforce by providing the tools, knowledge, and connections needed to succeed in any chosen field, we are not a placement agency. We cannot guarantee internships or employment for any of our students, including on-campus work which is limited – especially for those who are not eligible for work-study programs, including domestic, international, and undocumented students.

On-Campus Employment Process for Work-Study Students

All students must have a valid Social Security Number (SSN) issued by the United States Social Security Administration in order to work and BEFORE starting work on campus.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Confirm you are a work-study student. You should have received a letter from the Financial Aid Office informing you of your award.
  2. Search & Apply on Handshake: Review Handshake, our online platform for on-campus job postings, for on-campus jobs and follow the directions for applying for any positions of interest. Be sure to view this site regularly since jobs are posted frequently.
  3. Search & Apply in person: Since some Central offices do not post on Handshake, visit the different offices on campus that interest you and ask them directly if they are hiring any non-work study positions. If they are, apply!
  4. Prepare & Interview well to secure on-campus employment. You will need to submit a resume, and if you need assistance in preparing your application or sharpening your interview skills, book an appointment with a staff member in the Career Development Office.
