Graduate Assistantships & Internships

All Graduate Assistantship and Internship positions are listed on Handshake and all applicants are encouraged to search and apply directly through the Handshake posting. For more information on GA and GI opportunities, see the Graduate Studies website here.

Follow the instructions in the Handshake posting and send all required application documentation to the respective departmental personnel for review.

Graduate Assistantships

  • for full-time and part-time matriculated students
  • limited to 20 hrs/wk 

Graduate Internships

  • for part-time status students
  • limited to 35 hrs/wk

Requirements

All applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered:

  • Matriculated in a graduate program
  • Maintaining a GPA of 3.00 or higher
  • Registered in the current semester
    • Full-time at least nine credits (Graduate Assistantship)
    • Part-time up to 8.99 credits  (Graduate Internship)

Duties/Hours Required

  • Part-time Graduate Assistants must complete 10 hrs/wk or 150 hrs/semester
  • Full-time Graduate Assistants must complete 20 hrs/wk or 300 hrs/semester
  • Full-time Graduate Interns must complete 35+ hrs/wk, total semester hour requirement varies
  • Graduate Assistant assignments begin the first week of each semester and continue through the end of the semester
  • Graduate Interns can work and take classes year-round

Graduate Studies Policy Regarding GA and GI Positions

  • May not be employed in any other employment category of the university
  • Should not engage in full-time work outside of the university
