About the Program

The Manga Art Institute (MAI) Summer Program at Kansai Gaidai University offers an exciting four-week immersive experience in the heart of Japan. This dynamic program blends hands-on studio instruction with cultural exploration, giving students the opportunity to study manga where it was born. Participants develop skills in storytelling, character design, panel composition, and traditional manga production techniques while creating their own original short manga project.

Guided by experienced faculty and professional artists, students refine their creative voice and present their work in a final showcase. With on-campus housing, cultural excursions, and a vibrant international community, MAI delivers an unforgettable summer of art, inspiration, and global connection.
