A Strategic Plan Revision Committee (SPRC) was appointed in July and includes representation of both teaching and administrative faculty, staff, as well as administration. The SPRC has been working diligently to modify the plan to better reflect our commitment to student success and address the changing compliance requirements from the federal government. The modifications up to now include significant revisions to one of the goals as well as enhancements to the objectives and strategies in other goals. Metrics have also been modified to mirror these updates.
Our accreditation body, the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), has also changed its guiding standards. This non-governmental association's primary role is to ensure that accredited institutions like Central meet established quality standards for higher education. NECHE is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and therefore its accreditation makes the institution eligible to award federal financial aid to our students.
Shared Governance Process
Moving forward we will be engaged in the following shared governance process to seek final approval for the Revised Strategic Plan:
- Plan is reviewed by the Executive Committee
- Document is distributed to the university community
- An Open Forum is hosted to gather input from the university community*
- A draft of the document, including the feedback collected to this point, is shared with the University Planning and Budget Committee (UPBC)
- UPBC submits feedback to the SPRC
- Plan, including UPBC input, is shared with Faculty Senate
- Faculty Senate acts on the Plan
- Integrated Planning Council (IPC) considers Plan
“As your President, I have an obligation to our campus community, the state, and our society to facilitate the best educational experience possible for our students so they can contribute to the greater good. Together, we can make this a reality,” said Zulma R. Toro, President
