Kappa Delta Pi

The CCSU Student Nurses Association (CCSU SNA) is a student run organization on campus representing the future nurses (BSN and RN-BSN) at Central Connecticut State University.

We strive to provide a close-knit nursing community to help enhance education, clinical skills and knowledge of nursing as well as provide opportunities for students to develop his/her professional role and encourage responsibility for the holistic health care of people in the communities in which we live and work in.

Meetings vary with each semester and information regarding meeting dates and times can be found on the CCSU SNA Collegiate Link web page.

We offer a variety of programs and fundraising opportunities throughout the year, and we encourage any members of the CCSU community who are interested in Nursing and promoting health to join us.

The Athletic Trainers Association strives to give athletic training students greater knowledge of emergency first aid to post-injury rehabilitation through guest lecturers, symposiums, films, and clinics. For more information, contact: 860.832.3086

The Exercise Science Club gives exercise science students the opportunity to come together and allows students to explore the field by attending national and regional meetings and workshops; networking with professors and exercise science professionals; promoting health on campus; obtaining hands-on experience through workshops and guest lecturers; and finding options to obtain certifications.

Social Work Club promotes more interest and better understanding of social work and the broad field of social welfare through discussions and seminars among social work students and all other interested students at CCSU.The club also holds fundraisers.

The Central Counseling Society's mission is to educate, develop, and foster a sense of community among graduate counseling students. This can be accomplished through meaningful experiences that meet members’ needs and interests, and networking opportunities involving present and past students and working professionals. We invite all counseling graduate students to come participate, learn and grow into tomorrow's professionals.

Provides peer assistance to students in the School of Education and Professional Studies and encourages social and pre-professional interaction among student members. The Education Club is a student-run, non-profit organization that provides opportunities for future teachers to:

  • Gain educational experience beyond classroom fieldwork
  • Interact and network with other students and professionals
  • Build an impressive résumé & portfolio
  • Prepare for a successful teaching career
  • Volunteer in community outreach projects
  • Be informed of issues relevant to education and the CCSU School of Education.

Honor Societies

The honor society of the International Reading Association recognizes and encourages scholarship, the development of personal and professional leadership and service to the field of reading at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Department of Literacy, Elementary, and Early Childhood Education sponsors the Beta Kappa Chapter, established in 2005.

The mission of Chi Sigma Iota (CSI), the International Honor Society in Counseling, is to promote scholarship, research, professionalism, leadership, advocacy, and excellence in counseling, and to recognize high attainment in the pursuit of academic and clinical excellence in the profession of counseling. The Chi Alpha Mu (CAM) chapter at CCSU was established in 2013. Our chapter focuses on promoting excellence in the profession of counseling and hope to get members more involved in professional development, community engagement, wellness, and more. An international honor society in education open to both undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students excelling in the teacher education program. The society emphasizes excellence of scholarship and the promotion of high standards in teacher preparation. Through worthy social and professional contacts, the society has enriched the lives of thousands of students, teachers, and administrators who qualify for membership. Epsilon Mu Chapter at Central has conducted community and college events such as book drives, literacy activities, conferences, faculty recognition dinners, and professional seminars and lectures. Local and national scholarships are available to members. Selection as a member of Kappa Delta Pi is based on high academic achievement, a commitment to education as a career, and a professional attitude that assures the individual's steady growth in the profession. Undergraduate students must have a minimum 3.25 GPA at CCSU to be eligible for membership. Post-baccalaureate and M.A.T. students must have a minimum 3.5 GPA at CCSU to be eligible. The mission of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International is to support the learning, knowledge, and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health worldwide.

The vision of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International is to create a global community of nurses who lead in using knowledge, scholarship, service and learning to improve the health of the world’s people.

CCSU is a member of Iota Upsilon Chapter at Large with Saint Joseph College and the University of Hartford. Membership is open to Undergraduate and RN-BSN nursing students, who have completed ½ the nursing curriculum, have a cumulative GPA or 3.0 or higher, and rank in the top 35% of the graduating class. Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society, Chi Upsilon Chapter

The Phi Alpha Honor Society supports high standards in social work, provides a closer bond among social work students, and promotes humanitarian goals and ideals. Phi Alpha members have earned honor status within the social work program. Members work alongside student colleagues and professors serving as role models for fellow students and creating an environment that encourages academic excellence.

Phi Alpha members strive to demonstrate the social work core competencies outlined by the Council on Social Work Education and the NASW Code of Ethics and Standards for Cultural Competence while in the CCSU social work program and throughout their professional career.
