Pantry Policy

Please take a few minutes to review this information so you have a better idea about how to effectively use Maria’s Place Campus Food Pantry. The purpose of the food pantry is to provide supplemental food and other necessities to students who need this kind of assistance.

Rules

  • Maria’s Place is generally open Monday thru Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the Academic Year. Please obtain the current schedule online or call us to verify our hours of operation (860.832.3662).
  • To be eligible for our services, a student must be enrolled for the current semester.
  • Students must bring their Student ID every time they visit the pantry; without your Student ID, we will be unable to serve you.
  • Each time a student comes to the food pantry, they will be asked to check in and complete a short questionnaire. The purpose of this questionnaire is to determine what types of food are being acquired and to gather data on the use of the pantry.
  • A student is eligible to visit the food pantry once a week.
  • A student may fill one standard grocery bag.
  • A student may select no more than two of the same food items unless otherwise noted.

We receive most of our food from donations and from the regional food bank so we must provide these organizations with data. The products offered depend on their availability. We try to provide as much variety as possible while sticking to our budget and providing for the basic food needs of our users. Please only take the kinds of food you will actually use so that we have plenty for everyone.

If you have any questions, please email us at foodpantry@ccsu.edu or visit the pantry and speak to one of our volunteers.
