Transfer Process

Per immigration law, an F-1 student is allowed to transfer between two SEVIS-certified schools. The transfer process must be reported to SEVIS and completed within 60 days of the program end date.

Transfer Options

If you are planning to transfer to another school:

  • Obtain new school’s SEVIS code
  • Choose a transfer release date
  • Submit the “F-1 Transfer-Out” request through your online account Terra Dotta Login
  • Once you login, go to My Launchpad  >  Start New Request  >  F-1 Transfer-Out
  • Your SEVIS immigration record will be released to your new school based on the release date provided.

Note:

  • Your SEVIS record can only be transferred at the end of an ongoing semester.
  • Once your SEVIS record is transferred, Central no longer has access to it.
  • Optional Practical Training or Curricular Practical Training or Economic Hardship is terminated once your SEVIS record is transferred.

  • Upon submitting your admission confirmation deposit to Central, email ISSS@ccsu.edu to start the I-20 request process. 
  • Contact your school to release your SEVIS immigration record to Central.
  • Form I-20 can only be issued to you after your SEVIS record is released to Central.
  • Attend the mandatory International Student Orientation (Orientation date and time is on your Form I-20).
