Join us for a fun and exhilarating outdoor Bomba workshop with Movimiento Cultural at the Student Center Circle (Alumni Hall in case of rain).
Bomba is a national music and dance of Puerto Rico rooted in the African Diaspora, which originated in the sugar-producing regions of Puerto Rico's southern coast and has been connected to histories of resistance since, at least, the late 1700s. In the last 60 or 70 years, Bomba has become an expression of Puerto Rican identity. Puerto Ricans brought it with them when they began arriving in Connecticut in the 1940s.
This a FREE event to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Sponsored by Connecticut Humanities with a mission to inspire storytelling and more the enhance the quality of life for all Connecticut residents. Co-sponsored with the Latin American Student Organization
