For undocumented students and their families, pursuing financial aid can be challenging and stressful. At Central Connecticut State University, we hope the information and resources presented below will assist you.
In 2015, undocumented students were granted the ability to qualify for in-state tuition at the State’s public institutions of higher education when the Connecticut General Assembly passed House Bill 6844. To qualify, students must demonstrate all of the following:
Connecticut enacted a new state law in 2018 (PA 18-2) that makes undocumented students eligible for institutional financial aid. To qualify, students must meet certain age, residency, and criminal history requirements and provide an affidavit stating their intent to legalize their immigration status when they are eligible to do so.
The CSCU System has set up the CSCU - DACA: Legal & Community Resources website with more resources and services for DACA recipients.
While undocumented students may qualify for both in-state tuition and institutional aid, they do not qualify for state or federal financial aid. Nevertheless, there are a number of scholarship opportunities available, and students are encouraged to seek scholarship opportunities from private sources.
