Spend your summer in the heart of one of the UK’s most vibrant and creative cities with the Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) Global Summer School 2026. This immersive program combines academic learning with cultural exploration, offering students a unique opportunity to experience Liverpool’s history, creativity, and global influence.
About the Program
Liverpool John Moores University is located in the center of Liverpool, a city renowned for its music, literature, sport, and maritime heritage. Through a mix of lectures, workshops, excursions, and cultural activities, students will gain a deeper understanding of Liverpool’s place in the UK and its impact on global culture.
Participants will experience authentic student life while engaging with LJMU faculty, local experts, and fellow international students.
Academic Options

Non-Credit Bearing Program
Dates: July 20 – July 31, 2026
This two-week program offers an immersive exploration of Liverpool’s cultural and literary history. The course examines how geography, history, and place have shaped the city’s music, literature, film, and popular culture. Using approaches such as place-writing, cultural history, and psychogeography, students gain fresh perspectives on Liverpool and beyond.
Highlights include visits to iconic sites such as:
- The Walker Art Gallery
- The Cavern Club
- The Beatles Museum
- The Maritime Museum
Credit-Bearing Program
Dates: July 20 – August 7, 2026
This three-week option includes academic assessments and awards 2.5 US academic credits. In addition to cultural programming, students select a specialist academic pathway taught by LJMU faculty. Pathways may include:
- Business
- Creative Arts
- Engineering and Technology
- Humanities
- Sports and Exercise Science
Cultural Program
All participants take part in a rich cultural program designed to introduce students to Liverpool life. Activities include guided city experiences, workshops, and scheduled events that highlight the city’s history, creativity, and contemporary culture.
Accommodation
Students will stay in LJMU-approved accommodation featuring:
- En-suite single rooms
- Convenient access to campus and city attractions

- Non-Credit Bearing (2 weeks): £1,950
- Credit-Bearing (3 weeks, 10 credits): £2,925
Program fees include:
