CCSU's Exercise Science program trains students to be leaders in physical activity,
exercise, and allied-health related professions through academic, practical, and research
experiences. Students are prepared for employment in the fitness industry, including
corporate wellness and strength and conditioning centers. This rigorous program also
allows students to transition seamlessly into a graduate program or professional health-care
degree program. Students interested in earning their M.S. in Athletic training may
participate in CCSU’s 3+2 B.S. Exercise Science/M.S. Athletic Training program. Students
are given the necessary cognitive and practical experiences for exercise physiology
certification by the American College of Sports Medicine and certified strength and
conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. The
Exercise Science program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied
Health Programs and is an NSCA Education Recognized Program.

nutrition and weight management.
- Students will demonstrate the ability to acquire knowledge, skills and abilities in
program administration, quality assurance, and outcome assessment.
- Students will demonstrate the ability to acquire knowledge, skills and abilities in
safety, injury prevention, and emergency procedures.
- Students will demonstrate the ability to acquire and apply the knowledge, skills and
abilities in pathophysiology and risk factors.
- Students will demonstrate the ability to acquire knowledge, skills and abilities in
human behavior and counseling.
- Students will demonstrate the ability to acquire knowledge, skills and abilities in
electrocardiography and diagnostic techniques.
- Students will demonstrate the ability to acquire knowledge, skills and abilities in
patient management and medications.
