Central to Campus Mental Health
Central is a member of JED CAMPUS, a program of The Jed Foundation (JED) designed to guide schools through a collaborative process of comprehensive systems, program and policy development with customized support to build upon existing student mental health, substance use and suicide prevention efforts.
We have partnered with JED CAMPUS to review our community’s needs, develop a Campus Mental Health Enhancement Plan to build on existing strengths, and implement tools, strategies, and techniques that lead to measurable improvements in student mental health and a more connected Central family.
The Central JED Campus Mental Health Coalition is a group of professionals from all divisions and offices across campus who meet regularly to improve the overall mental health of Central students.

Spring 2024 Update
Central will be partnering with Klingberg Family Centers’ Traumatic Stress Institute to launch a new grant-funded initiative focused on increasing trauma awareness and trauma sensitivity across campus. The JED Campus Mental Health Coalition will play a critical role in helping to promote this initiative, as we are hoping for widespread participation from faculty and staff.
History
In Fall 2022, the JED Campus Mental Health Coalition worked with JED Campus to review our self-assessment and the results of our Campus Mental Health Survey. The product of that collaboration was a comprehensive Mental Health Enhancement Plan.
In Spring 2023, the Coalition identified 18 strategic initiatives to address a variety of areas of need. As of Spring 2024, most of those projects have been completed.
