Mental Health First Aid is a national training initiative that teaches non-mental health professionals how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. The training provides skills needed for faculty and staff to reach out and provide initial help and support to students who may be experiencing emotional, cognitive, or interpersonal distress, as well as substance use problems. This training makes it more comfortable to start conversations about mental health and substance use by improving understanding and providing action steps to assist students in getting the help they need.
Training sessions are limited to 25 participants and registration is required. After you complete the registration form, you will receive an invitation to participate in the training via email from MHFA USA. Please be sure to look for this email and to accept the invitation. Once you accept the invitation, you will receive a second email instructing you to go to the MHFA website and complete the "pre-work." Please be sure to complete this prior to the start of training. It should only take about 15 minutes.
