As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary, questions about the nation’s founding are resurfacing with renewed curiosity. The Office of Professional Education at Central Connecticut State University recently hosted a discussion on Connecticut’s role in the American Revolution during a Scholars for Life talk on July 7. The popular lecture series features Central faculty and staff who cover a variety of topics for lifelong learners. More than 100 people attended the July 7 lecture led by Central History professor Dr. Matthew Warshauer in the Constitution Room of Memorial Hall.
Warshauer discussed how Connecticut, which became known as the “Provision State,” supplied the Continental Army with food, livestock, and essential materials throughout the war.
Warshauer also reviewed how the nation has commemorated the Declaration of Independence in the past and placed the 250th anniversary in the context of the present-day political landscape in America.
