New Student Programs serves as a resource for the parents and families who support our new students in their transition to college life. We will gladly take any phone calls, or emails, or walk-ins to answer any questions that a parent or family member may have. We know that joining a new college community may be overwhelming - NSP is here to help!
Upon confirming their acceptance, your new student will begin receiving emails from Central regarding orientation, Undergraduate Advising, placement exams, and more. Understanding what to expect with the transition to college life if critical to their success, and ensuring that they read their email is the best way for them to stay in-the-know. We ask that they begin checking their email routinely (even daily)! This habit will be a good start to becoming an autonomous and responsible member of the Central community.
Orientation programs are for new first year students, and new transfer students, as well as new international students. You may check each of those tabs on this page for more information about our Orientation dates this summer.
During Summer First Year Orientation, Central hosts a family track with various sessions and workshops. Students and families begin the day together at 9 a.m., with a resource fair and welcoming remarks from out University President, Dr. Zulma Toro. After the welcome, students and families will follow separate tracks. Families will learn about various resources and programs, as well as what to expect throughout their first year at Central. The Family program concludes by 4 p.m.
During Spring orientation for new students (first years and transfers), families are invited to attend and follow along with their student's program.
Before attending our in-person Orientation, we invite families and students to view our Pre-Orientation Online Modules at CCSU.GOorientation.com. You may use the Guest Log-In to access the program, but your student can log in with their Central bluenet ID. This engaging and interactive platform provides a direct connection to important resources and links to prepare you and your student for all you need to know before coming to campus for Orientation. Major resources within our online modules include Academics & Advising, Support Services, Policies and Safety, Paying for College, and Campus Life.
You may also access important information within Central's Blanket of Support here.
