CWIH Advisory Board meet regularly to discuss the Hub initiative. The mission is to engage students, faculty, and external partners through applied research, experiential learning, and professional education. In these meetings various discussions take place to support the workforce and innovative efforts.
The advisory board is a collection of Central faculty members as well as a variety of workforce industry representatives. It's our mission to gain feedback on real world training discrepancies and opportunities for professionals both entering the workforce as well as those looking for career change or growth. With this key information and collaboration, we hope to better serve our community in the types of training we offer in our department. We also hope to develop noncredit to credit pathways for those who may want to further their education here at Central!
Semi-annual meetings at the beginning of each semester with employer representation from all industries. Typically, between 20-40 employers are on the EAB invite list. Updates are given from Central, the Career Development Office, and each individual school. Other topics of discussion include student preparedness, new industry trends, AI involvement in shaping industries, etc.
The Student Union Board of Governors (SUBOG) is a student, faculty, staff and alumni organization that advises the Departments of the Student Center and Student Activities/Leadership Development carrying out their missions on campus.
Collective efforts are guided by the insight and expertise of a First-Generation Advisory Board comprised of faculty members, staff, students, and members of the community at large. This is important because alignment, collaboration and community is needed to better serve the needs of this population, to enhance our collective understanding and garner support for on-going efforts and structures.
The School Counseling Program Advisory Board meets each semester to discuss updates to our graduate program and significant changes in the field. As a pre-professional program we are focused on preparing our students to enter the field ready to meet the demands of supporting students, families and staff in elementary, middle and high schools in CT and the region. Members of our Advisory Board include current students, alumni, site supervisors/practicing school counselors, Dept of Ed leadership and our adjunct faculty. We are so grateful for the time and energy our Advisory Board puts into supporting our students and our program.
The board meets once a year to talk about trends in the field. With the alumni section of the board we also talk about classwork that has formed the foundation of their work.
