The Global Environmental Sustainability Action Coalition (GESAC), Central Connecticut State University, Central Geography, Anthropology, & Tourism Department, and Central Public History Program invite you to submit a proposal for the 19th annual Global Environmental Sustainability Symposium. We are looking for presentations, posters, panels, and performances. Submissions are welcome from faculty, students, professionals, NGOs, civic leaders, and governmental agencies. This year our theme is trees!
We welcome proposals of scholarly and creative works from all academic disciplines that highlight the importance of trees in maintaining a sustainable ecosystem and society, including battling climate change. Suggestions include the role of trees in absorbing carbon/providing shade, the cultural value of trees, stories, poems or art about trees, the impact/history of deforestation, tree-planting strategies/programs, psychological/sociological benefits of trees, the impact of climate change on the forest/trees, the role of trees and the urban forest in public health and community spaces, the development of solar trees (engineering), treeconomics (the role of trees in business/ economic growth such as lumber), solar farm relationship with nature, etc.
Presentations

The presentation itself shall be no longer than 30 minutes in length, followed by 15 minutes of discussions with audience members.

Upon request, Dr. Button will supply all participants with a poster template and a copy of a poster example to help presenters with the layout and design of their posters.

All opening statements are to be completed within 30 minutes, leaving at least 15 minutes for questions and discussions with audience members.
