Central faculty and nursing students volunteered their time and expertise during a free healthcare clinic hosted by the nonprofit Remote Area Medical (RAM) in partnership with the UConn Medical Clinic Club on March 7 and 8 at the Windham Senior Center.
Drs. Rosalynn Bravo-Cavoli, Jacqueline Cantor, Tamara Holland, and Laurie Walter joined several nursing students in providing medical services at no cost to patients. Over the two-day clinic, volunteers helped 261 patients, delivering more than $134,000 worth of care.
Founded in 1985, Remote Area Medical provides free, quality medical care to underserved communities across the country. RAM clinics offer a range of services depending on volunteer specialties, including podiatry, family medicine, and women’s health.
Driven by volunteers and supported by donors, RAM’s mobile clinics bring together healthcare professionals from across the country to serve individuals who might otherwise lack access to care.
