Central Connecticut State University hosted its annual winter commencement ceremony on Dec. 13 at Welte Auditorium. This year, 840 students received their degrees, including eight doctoral students. The graduates represent 18 states, including California, and the countries of Ghana, India, Indonesia, Brazil, and Uruguay.
The winter commencement ceremony honors students who completed their graduation requirements by the close of the Fall 2025 semester or the winter intercession. Students who completed their requirements over the summer are also eligible to participate.
This year’s featured guest speaker was Megan Clark Torrey ’96, ’08, the chief executive officer of the World Affairs Council of Connecticut.
In her address, Torrey emphasized the value of a college education in today’s world and lauded the Class of 2025 for its tenacity in acquiring their degrees. “Go out and create change. The world needs you. Go forward with confidence. Go forward with hope. Go forward knowing this extra extraordinary moment belongs to you.” Torrey said.
Central President Zulma R. Toro and Martin Guay, the chairman of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities Board of Regents, also addressed the graduates.
In her remarks, Central President Zulma R. Toro reminded students of the qualities that distinguish Central graduates from their peers.
“Class of 2025 this is your fresh start we believe in you your family believes in you and now the larger world community will benefit from your potential.” she said.
