Design, visualize, and produce effective mediated instruction

Central to Enhancing Instruction with Technology

Educational (Instructional) Technology is an innovative and practical master’s program that blends instructional design, visualization, and production (technology) processes to enhance classroom instruction. The program’s uniqueness is its curriculum structure, which scaffolds courses to establish linkage and relationship throughout the student’s experience.

The program applies the three processes in a hands-on, project-based experience. Students learn by doing, learning first to design and then to build. Student performance is based on how well the instructional projects are developed. The result is a strong and effective instructional project for the classroom.

  • 30-credit program, including a research and capstone project

  • Classes are all asynchronous with optional weekly meeting in the lab.

Basic Information

  • There are no prerequisites other than basic computer skills (turning on the machine, saving files, browsing the web, etc.). 
  • The program offers Mac laptop loaners that can be used for the duration of the program. 
  • The Educational Technology master’s program does not offer a teaching certification.
  • Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.  Applicants must also have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.70 on a 4.00-point scale (where A is 4.00), or its equivalent, and good standing (3.00 GPA) in all post-baccalaureate coursework.

How long will it take to complete the program?

Attending part time and enrolling in two courses per term (recommended) as well as summer classes, the program will be completed in two years.

Delivery of instruction

  • All ten courses are asynchronous, self-paced & stand-alone. The program uses two state-of-the-art laboratories to complement course instruction.

Graduate Student Profile

Most students in this program are teachers, including elementary, middle, high school, and specials. The program also attracts noneducators (2%) to move into business, i.e., Training and Development.
