Pre-Law
Students interested in attending law school should consult with one of the pre-law advisors (see below) early in their academic careers, preferably before the end of their junior year, to discuss the law school admissions process and law school preparation, generally.
Since law schools do not prescribe a particular academic program, students considering a career in law may select any undergraduate major. Information regarding academic planning and requirements for application to law school is available from the following pre-law advisors: Professor Robbin Smith, Political Science; Professor Kathleen Bantley, Criminology and Criminal Justice; Professor Katherine Hermes, History; and Professor Tara Weese, Philosophy.
Pre-Health/Pre-Medical
A Pre-Health Professional Advisory Committee is available to assist students interested in preparing for careers in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, optometry, and related fields in the health sciences for which undergraduate training is required prior to admission to other institutions. The Pre-Health Professional Advisory Committee consists of faculty members from the departments of biology, biomolecular sciences, chemistry and biochemistry, physics, and psychology.
Students interested in pre-health professional programs should consult Dr. Peter Osei, program coordinator for the health professions, Department of Biology, NC 339 (860.832.2657), and Dr. Neil Glagovich, chair of the Pre-Health Professional Advisory Committee, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, NC 44001 860.832.2681).
The Pre-health Professions Program at Central is an advising and support system for undergraduates and post-baccalaureate students preparing for careers in the health sciences. Students interested in health careers such as allopathic or osteopathic medicine, dentistry, podiatry, optometry, naturopathy or veterinary medicine, will benefit from reading the information at this site but should also identify themselves to the Program coordinator, Dr. Peter Osei. The Pre-health Professions Advisory Committee (Pre-PAC), chaired by Dr. Neil Glagovich, exists to advocate for students seeking entrance to professional schools.

Waiver Letter- The committee will prepare a letter of recommendation for your application to professional school. This waiver letter must be completed by the applicant and forwarded to Dr. Peter Osei for our records.
SEST 481 (MCAT Review)- The Medical College Admissions Test is a standardized test used to assess applicants' science knowledge, reasoning, and communication and writing skills. The MCAT is required of all applicants to medical school in the U.S. and Canada. This course will review the topics covered in the MCAT, in preparation for entry into the medical profession.
