Bequest Language

Suggested language to include in your will or trust:

“I hereby give and bequeath to the CCSU Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit charitable and educational organization supporting Central Connecticut State University, the following:
[Insert description of property]”

Examples of Property Descriptions May Include:

  • A specified percentage of your estate
  • A fixed dollar amount
  • Particular stocks, bonds, or other securities
  • A designated parcel of real estate
  • Tangible personal property

If You Wish to Designate Your Gift for a Specific Purpose:

For an addition to an existing endowed fund

“This bequest shall be added to the principal of the [Fund Name] Fund, which is an endowed fund. Only the income generated by the principal shall be used to provide scholarships to students at Central Connecticut State University, as determined by the University Scholarship Committee and the Board of Directors of the Foundation.”

To establish a new endowed fund:

“This bequest shall establish the initial principal of the [Fund Name] Fund, to be endowed. Only the income generated from the principal shall be used to provide scholarships to students at Central Connecticut State University, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding dated [Insert Date] between the CCSU Foundation, Inc. and myself.”
