Dr. Nana Yaa Marfo is a licensed clinical psychologist and assistant professor in the Department of Psychological Science at Central Connecticut State University. She is a clinician-scientist who believes in the power of interdisciplinary collaboration to improve public health and advance health equity in the U.S. and beyond. Her primary research interests are 1) understanding and reducing barriers to health equity within systems, organizations, and communities, and 2) investigating how contextual factors – both structural and sociodemographic – impact the effectiveness of efficacious health tools, programs, and interventions among vulnerable populations. Dr. Marfo is also passionate about mentoring and supporting students with marginalized identities who are underrepresented in the field of psychology and in higher education in general. She is excited to begin the next chapter of her career at Central, an institution whose culture, mission, and values strongly align with her own.
