Gallery Talk with Dr. Claudia Zapata
Artist and Associate Curator of Latino Art at the Blanton Museum of Art, University of Texas at Austin

Join us for a special gallery talk presented by Dr. Claudia Zapata, art historian, curator, artist, and writer specializing in Chicano, Latinx, and Indigenous art. Currently serving as Associate Curator of Latino Art at the Blanton Museum of Art, Zapata previously worked at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, where they contributed to the award-winning exhibition ¡Printing the Revolution! The Rise and Impact of Chicano Graphics, 1965-Now. They hold a Ph.D. in Art History from Southern Methodist University and have published extensively on Chicano and Latinx visual culture. In addition to their curatorial work, Zapata is a co-founder of the Puro Chingón Collective, an interdisciplinary art project, and is recognized for their scholarship, exhibitions, and creative projects that explore identity, social justice, and the histories of Latino communities in the United States.
Salsa Fest and Study Abroad Fair

Join us for an afternoon of music, dancing, food, and community! In collaboration with the Study Abroad Fair and the Mosaic Center, the LALCC will host an outdoor salsa celebration featuring a live performance by the Hart All Stars salsa band, basic salsa dance lessons, local Latino/a/x vendors, community resource organizations, and Latin food trucks. Come enjoy the music, learn some salsa moves, and celebrate Latin American culture with the CCSU community!
