Welcome New Students!
Welcome to Central Connecticut State University!
CCSU has a wealth of technological resources that are just a click away. Below you will find some of the most important topics to get you started with technology at CCSU. Click on the IT Services button to the left to access our full catalog of services.
Your BlueNet Account is your primary account. You will receive an email from Admissions with important information about activating your account. You will use the Accounts Management System at https://accounts.ccsu.edu to activate your BlueNet account, create a password, set security questions and select your Office 365/My.CCSU e-mail address. Note: if your social security number (SSN) is not on file, then you will need an Activation PIN to activate your account. The Activation PIN is included in the email from Admissions, and may also be obtained by calling the IT Help Desk.
BlueNet Account
A BlueNet Account is a unique username and password assigned to each student, faculty, and staff, at CCSU. It is used to access computing services both on and off campus. Along with your BlueNet Account, you are also provided with an Office 365 account used for email, OneDrive file storage, Teams and other applications. Use your BlueNet Account to log in to campus computers and manage your password and security settings. Use your Office 365 account to log in to online systems via CentralPipeline (such as Outlook Web Mail, WebCentral-Banner Web, Blackboard). Your BlueNet Account password and Office 365 account password are synchronized. Click here to read more about your BlueNet account.
Password Security
To keep your account secure, your BlueNet account and Office 365/My.CCSU e-mail password will expire every 120 days. You will receive an email from CCSU Accounts Mangement (accounts@ccsu.edu) 7 days prior to expiration with further instructions for resetting it. You can avoid expiration by changing your password on a regular basis. You do not have to wait 120 days; you can reset it anytime using either a campus computer or the Accounts Management System at https://accounts.ccsu.edu.
Your password must be a "strong" password, comprised of at least 8 characters and include at least one uppercase letter and at least one numeric or symbol character. An example of a "strong" password is MyP@ssw0rd because it contains uppercase letters, a symbol and a number.
My.CCSU Email/Office 365 Account
Your My.CCSU e-mail/Office 365 account is powered by Microsoft, and accessed by going to https://my.ccsu.edu or https://office.ccsu.edu. You select your My.CCSU e-mail address when you activate your BlueNet Account. Your My.CCSU e-mail address will end in "@my.ccsu.edu." It is your official University e-mail address. Your My.CCSU e-mail password is the same as your BlueNet account password. Along with your e-mail account, you have access to OneDrive online file storage, Teams, and online versions of Microsoft Office projects. In addition, you may download and install the full Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and more) on up to five computers and five mobile devices. To access Office 365, navigate to https://office.ccsu.edu and log in with your My.CCSU email address and BlueNet password. For more information visit www.ccsu.edu/it/office365/aboutoffice365/.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Multi-Factor Authenication (MFA), also known as 2-Step or Two Factor Authentication, is a Microsoft feature used to protect your account by requiring an additional step (after your password) when signing into your Office 365/My.CCSU email account, WebCentral-Banner Web and Blackboard Learn. MFA requires something you know (your password) and something you have (a phone or other mobile device) to sign into your account. The first step is to sign into your Office365/email with your account password. You will then be prompted with a call, code, or prompt on your phone or mobile device. Click here for more information.
