Purchasing a Printer
Before deciding to purchase a printer, here are some items to consider:
- The IT Department has a limited number of printers available through the Green Printer Initiative. If you have an old non-duplex printer that is shared between 4 or more people, we will swap it out for a new printer with duplexing capabilities. To request a printer through this program, please complete the Printer Upgrade service request form.
- Wireless printers are not supported in faculty/staff offices. We do not have the ability to connect wireless printers through our current print servers. Wireless printing is offered to students at specific locations on campus (such as the Library and Marcus White Student Technology Center).
- The IT Department only supports Hewlett Packard printers and provides limited support for Savin Multi-function printers. We cannot support other printer makes/models.
- The IT Department only supports LaserJet printers. We cannot support inkjet printers.

Where to Buy
There are 2 vendors on state contract that may be used for purchasing printers. You may also purchase printers directly from HP.com or other vendors, if their price is lower. We recommend that you shop around to locate the best price for the printer model you are considering.

E&I (Educational & Institutional Cooperative)
Each department is responsible for purchasing printer consumables when these need to be replaced. Consumables are toner cartridges, drums, fuser kits, or transfer kits. You may purchase these items from the University's contract office supply vendor. The IT department will assist you with installing these items on supported CCSU-owned HP printers, please contact the IT Help Desk for assistance at x21720 or email@example.com.
