Transfer Students

Transfer International Students

International students are selected for undergraduate admission to Central Connecticut State University based on a review of their academic success in their previous education.

When filling out your international student application and all other related documents, be sure to use your full name as it appears on your passport.

Transfer Student Requirements

To be considered for admission, international transfer applicants must submit the following:

  • Completed online application (ccsu.edu/apply/undergrad)
  • $50 application fee or fee waiver
  • Academic credentials
    • Students are required to submit official copies of secondary school records which include academic transcripts, results from national examinations, graduation certificates, and/or any other documentation that certifies successful completion of secondary education. Students should seek foreign educational credential evaluations from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES®). For documentation to be considered official, it must be mailed or emailed directly from a secondary school or national education ministry in a sealed envelope. If documentation is not in English, provide both original and translated copies.
    • Post-secondary Credential Evaluation: International transfer students with college credits from an institution outside of the United States are required to provide copies of the Course-by-Course credential evaluations from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES®). Please begin this process as soon as possible as some institutions can take several weeks to provide documentation.
    • Course Descriptions: All students are asked to compile and submit course descriptions for all college courses taken, both at current, and past institutions attended if more than one. If the classes are taken at an institution outside of the United States, where English is not the native language, students are required to submit both original and translated documents. It is in the student’s best interest to also submit course syllabi to expedite the process.
  • SpanTran is our recommended international transcript evaluation service. They have created a custom application for Central Connecticut State University that will make sure you select the right kind of evaluation at a discounted rate. You can access their application here: SpanTran Application - Central Connecticut State University
  • English language proficiency requirement: Applicants whose native language is not English are required to demonstrate their English proficiency by submitting one of the following.
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Information on the TOEFL may be obtained from Educational Testing Services. The three versions of the TOEFL that a prospective student may take are listed here with minimum acceptable scores:
      • Internet: minimum score of 79
      • Computer: minimum score of 213
      • Paper: minimum score of 550
    • The International English Language Testing System Exam (IELTS) is also accepted. A minimum band score of 6.5 is required for admissions consideration.
    • Duolingo English Test (DET) minimum score of 95
  • Completed Affidavit of Support verifying that a sponsor will provide the Estimated Expenses in U.S. dollars to you for each calendar year of study at Central
  • Copy of Your Passport; Green Card holders are to send a photocopy of the front and back of the green card or proof of eligible non-citizenship.

All documentation (except the Affidavit of Support), including official transcripts, may be sent directly to the Undergraduate Recruitment & Admissions Office.
