Sanford Inspire at Central Connecticut State University

Central Connecticut State University’s partnership with Sanford Inspire provides teachers and teacher preparation faculty access to free research-based on-demand modules. Made possible by renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist, T. Denny Sanford, and developed by educators at the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University, these modules are 30 to 60-minute micro-courses where future and in-service teachers can learn enhance their instructional practice.

This partnership provides teacher preparation faculty and teachers with proven tools and strategies to create an interactive, inspiring environment that encourages student learning at all grade levels.

Teacher Education and Mentoring (TEAM) Program & Sanford Inspire Modules Crosswalk

This partnership has supported mapping of the Sanford Inspire modules with Connecticut’s Common Core of Teaching (CCT) and TEAM modules as a resource for mentors and beginning teachers during the TEAM Program.

Resources to Support Implementation

The partnership also provides targeted support, professional development, and ongoing professional learning communities for individual teachers, schools, districts, and schools of education. Support for faculty interested in embedding select modules into teacher preparation programs is also available.

On-Demand Modules

Aligned to Connecticut’s Common Core of Teaching, these 80+ modules are arranged within the following domains: Learning Environment, Planning & Delivery, Student Growth & Achievement, Professional Practices, and Motivation. Topics include: Understanding the Impact of Trauma on Students, Formative Assessment, Elements of a Lesson Closure, Working Against Racial Bias, and Student Motivation Theory.

Modules are accessible to teachers at no fee here. Fully-responsive for all devices, teachers and students can complete modules at home or on the go, wherever they have access to a desktop, tablet, or smartphone.

Opportunities for Research

Research opportunities focused on module implementation and impact are available for educators in both K-12 and higher education settings.

The Sanford Inspire modules are noteworthy. They provide high quality resources that address the needs and interests of beginning educators. Each module provides learning experiences that capture the essential and fundamental elements of each topic. Consequently, learning becomes manageable and meaningful. These modules provide a differentiated professional development toolbox that is beneficial to every school district.
