Mission & Objectives

The Department of Computer Science offers several bachelors' degree programs, as well as graduate programs in Software Engineering and Computer Information Technology. The Bachelor of Science (BS) program in Computer Science is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. With this program the Department of Computer Science pursues the following Program Educational Objectives:

  1. Graduates will apply a broad understanding of the fundamental theories, concepts, and applications of computer science and adapt to emerging technologies and rapidly evolving industry needs.
  2. Graduates will achieve success as competent computing professionals, advancing in responsibility, specialization or leadership, working collaboratively in diverse teams across geographic boundaries, and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  3. Graduates will build computing solutions responsibly, being aware of the impact, considering ethical, legal, and societal implications, and contribute positively to the community.
  4. Graduates will pursue continuous professional development through advanced degrees, certifications, or self-directed learning to stay current in an ever-changing field with an understanding that lifelong learning is essential.
