
The Central Connecticut State University Alumni Association presented its annual awards during a ceremony at Hilltop Café on June 5.
In her remarks, Central President Zulma R. Toro said, “To all of our alumni here tonight, I want to express my deepest gratitude. You are living proof of the strength of a Central education, and you embody the values that we hold dear: integrity, resilience, and a commitment to making the world a better place. Your accomplishments reflect not only your own hard work, but also the enduring spirit of this university.”
The Alumni Association honored the following individuals for their dedication, leadership, and service to Central.
Distinguished Alumni Award: Janet (Sperdini) Nahorney ’83
The Distinguished Alumni Service Award is presented to a graduate of Central in recognition of outstanding service to the University or the Alumni Association and to the community, since graduation, and for professional excellence in one's chosen profession.
Young Alumni Service Award: John Randolph ’13
The Young Alumni Service Award is presented to a graduate of Central 40 years of age or younger in recognition of outstanding service to the university or the Alumni Association and to the community, since graduation.
Community Service Award: Omar McDew ’95
The Community Service Award is presented to a graduate for extraordinary community service and for contributions that advance the improvement of society, thereby reflecting favorably on the university.
Friend of the University Award: Harry Mazadoorian
The Friend of the University Award is presented to a non-graduate of the university who has provided distinguished leadership and/or service to Central.
