A message from Interim President Kostelis

Dear Central Community,

Today’s announcement is the beginning of an exciting new journey for Central. I am mindful of the many experiences, perspectives, and emotions that members of our community bring to this moment. I believe deeply in Central’s strengths. This university is a special place, a community defined by incredible people. Our shared mission will help guide us and we should be proud of the many ways our community supports and inspires one another.

I am humbled by the support, and I am grateful to Interim Chancellor Natalie Braswell for trusting me to lead Central Connecticut State University at this pivotal time. As we navigate this transition, my commitment is to listen, to learn, and to support the people and values that are at the heart of Central. I recognize that meaningful progress requires not only leadership, but the engagement, perspectives, and voices of all who make up our community.

As many of you may know, Central has been my home for more than 20 years. I am hopeful about what we can accomplish together, not because the work ahead will always be easy, but because I have tremendous confidence in all of you. We have much to build upon. We know that the students, faculty, and staff of this university are what makes Central shine. Changing lives and building communities is what we do best!

I am happy to announce that our first campus community event will take place on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. I am looking forward to this Central Gathering to update you on all the good work happening here at Central. Please save the date and be on the lookout for an invite soon!

In the meantime, I look forward to seeing you around campus and encourage you all to join us for Homecoming and Family Weekend 2026. As a new tradition, Central will honor the 2026 Distinguished Service Award winner at halftime of the football game on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

Thank you for your continued commitment to our students, to one another, and to our shared mission. We are better together, and together we will continue to move Central forward, change lives, and strengthen the communities we serve.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kimberly T. Kostelis
Interim President
