Biography

Edwin Vargas is the former Gov. O'Neill Endowed Chair for Public Policy and a Political Science Faculty member at CCSU, where he now serves as emeritus and as a member of the LALCC and the O'Neill Advisory Boards. He was elected for 6 terms to the Connecticut House of Representatives from where he retired  as Deputy Speaker in 2023. Throughout his career Ed has served on numerous local, state and national leadership roles in the fields of education, civil rights, labor and public policy. He currently serves on the Connecticut Teachers Retirement Board and on the Metropolitan District Commission.
