In continuing a Blue Devil tradition, the 600 student-athletes of the Central Connecticut State Department of Athletics, supported Maria's Place, the on-campus food pantry that supports the Central community. This year the Blue Devils donated more than 2,000 needed food items to help stock the pantry for the coming year.
Each year, on the night before the fall semester begins, the Department of Athletics has an opening meeting for its student-athletes, that serves as a welcome back and kickoff for the coming season. Most important, it has become an evening to showcase the Blue Devils support for their community.
“This is who we are, and this is what we do," said Director of Athletics Tom Pincince. "Our student-athletes understand the importance of being a part of the community at Central, and they understand what it means to give back to that community. This donation, amongst the championships and academic successes, is arguably the highlight of the year for me. I am filled with pride at the commitment of our student-athletes in their support of their fellow students.”
