Kusaila honored with Educator of Excellence Award

The Connecticut Society of CPAs (CTCPA) presented Dr. Michelle Kusaila with its annual Educator of Excellence Award at the society’s Recognition Reception on June 3.

The “Eddy” honors the critical role accounting educators play in nurturing accounting students and CPA candidates, based on nominations from student members of the CTCPA.

In nominating Kusaila for the award, one student wrote, “Professor Kusaila mentors with patience, clarity, and genuine care, helping students understand complex material while also guiding them toward their academic and career goals.”

Kusaila began her career in public accounting and is a Connecticut CPA and certified fraud examiner. She teaches auditing, technology, and fraud to graduate and undergraduate students at Central.

In a social media post Kusaila noted, “I truly love what I do. Teaching, mentoring, and helping students grow in confidence as they prepare for their futures is such a rewarding experience. Watching the next generation of CPAs and business leaders develop their skills and find their path is something I am happy to do every day.”
