Central Connecticut State University is one of 70 recipients nationwide of the 2025 Excellence in Mental Health and Well-Being Award from Insight Into Academia magazine. The university will be featured with 70 other recipients in the September 2025 issue of Insight Into Academia.

Insight Into Academia is the largest and oldest diversity and inclusion publication in higher education.

The Excellence in Mental Health and Well-Being Award is a measure of an institution’s programs and initiatives that significantly advance the core values of inclusive excellence and belonging through programs, initiatives, and many other campus priorities deserving of this national recognition.

Central was recognized for the efforts of its counseling team and the array of services it provides and for the prevention work of the JED Campus Mental Health Coalition Team.

Central is a member of JED CAMPUS, a program of The Jed Foundation designed to guide schools through program and policy development with customized support to build upon existing student mental health, substance use and suicide prevention efforts.

“We are honored to receive Insight into Academia’s Excellence in Mental Health and Wellbeing Award,” says Dr. Michael Russo, interim vice president of Equity and Wellbeing and director of Counseling and Student Development. “This recognition reflects Central’s unwavering commitment to creating a supportive and compassionate campus environment where students can work through challenges and thrive.”
