Central Connecticut State University School of Business students can now specialize in Banking Excellence with the recent launch of a new certificate program that is the first-of-its-kind in New England.
The Banking Excellence Certificate, offered through the School of Business, is designed to prepare undergraduate students for high-demand careers in the banking industry. More than just a credential, the Banking Excellence Certificate offers a competitive edge for students by equipping them with specialized knowledge and practical skills that are highly valued by employers across banking and finance-related sectors.
“By offering this certificate, Central is helping to prepare the next generation of professionals and fostering strong, ongoing relationships between our students, faculty, and industry leaders,” said Central President Zulma R. Toro. “It also builds on our strong foundation of community engagement within the School of Business and supports the university's role as a forward-thinking institution responsive to industry needs.”
The certificate program offers four targeted courses in students’ junior and senior years focused on banking, loan underwriting, risk management, and relationship building and sales.
Students also must complete an internship with a bank or organization that values banking skills.
With multiple opportunities to network and learn from industry professionals, students will be distinctly prepared to begin their careers.
Upon successful completion, the certificate will appear on students’ official academic transcript, adding value to their primary degree and strengthening their professional profile.
The Banking Excellence Certificate program is now accepting applications for the Fall 2025 semester.
