Central will host its annual winter commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. in Welte Auditorium on the Central campus. (The inclement weather date is Sunday, Dec. 14.)
The event is at capacity at this time, with a limited number of tickets allotted to each graduate. To accommodate those who cannot attend in person, the ceremony also will be streamed live on the Central website at www.ccsu.edu/commencement/. The livestream also will be broadcast to screens in the Student Center where all are welcome to view the ceremony.
Central’s December commencement honors students who completed their graduation requirements by the close of the Fall 2025 semester or the Winter Intercession. Students who completed their requirements over the summer are also eligible to participate. This year, 840 students will receive their degrees, including eight doctoral students. The graduates represent 18 states, including California, and the countries of Ghana, India, Indonesia, Brazil, and Uruguay.
This year’s featured guest speaker is Megan Clark Torrey ’96, ’08, the chief executive officer of the World Affairs Council of Connecticut. AS CEO, Torrey is responsible for producing programming and enhancing the public’s understanding of global issues. Before joining the World Affairs Council in 2003, she worked with UNESCO’s International Year for the Culture of Peace at its headquarters in Paris and the United Nations International Training and Research Institute for the Advancement of Women.
Central President Zulma R. Toro and Martin Guay, the chairman of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities Board of Regents, also will address the graduates.
The names of each degree candidate will be read aloud during the ceremony.
