Central Graphics students earn competitive national scholarships

Four Central students are heading into the new academic year with a little extra support for their studies, thanks to scholarships from two national foundations serving the print and graphics industries.

Graphics Technology students Rey Williams and Jazmyn Washington each received a $2,900 scholarship from the Foundation for Graphic Communication Education (FGCE), formerly known as the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation. The foundation draws a highly competitive applicant pool each year, often receiving between 1,000 and 1,400 applications.

In addition, Williams, Washington and Joshua Hurlburt, all Graphics Technology students, received $5,000 scholarships from the Graphic Communications Scholarship Foundation of New England (GCSFNE). Cooper Ben-Kiki, a Graphic/Design Information student, also received a GCSFNE scholarship.

Since fall 2014, the two foundations have awarded more than $100,000 in merit-based scholarships to Central students, helping them pursue their education and prepare for careers in the graphics and communications fields.
