SAW Exhibition and Reception

Saturday Art Workshop

The Saturday Art Workshop (SAW) is a Central program that offers opportunities to participating K-12 students from the Greater Hartford region to take art classes at the university. First and foremost, SAW serves as a pre-student teaching practicum through which the classes are instructed and designed by Central teacher candidate students accepted into the Art Education Professional Program. Our students work with a variety of media in lessons that are fun and engaging. Activities include lessons in drawing, painting, and mixed media. Past lessons have included creative self-portraits, clay animal sculptures, imaginative landscapes, and more! Each year we have an impressive end of session Art Show in the Central Art Gallery, for family and friends to see the talent of our SAW students.

Spring 2025, SAW will run for 7 weeks on Saturday mornings from 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. Please look for our registration link in January 2025.
