“Transformed by Fire: Feats of Clay.” The artist, Thomas J. Zaccheo, M.D. is a retired New Britain physician who has worked in ceramics for over 50 years. More recently he has been interested in mixed media, fiber clay and a method he calls the “lost cloth” technique for turning cloth/weaving/crochet into ceramic replicas, and Public Art involving works in aluminum/steel as well as CAM/CAD produced images.  His large “Flight of Fancy” installation on the Recorder Building in Greenfield, MA was supported in part by the Massachusetts Arts Council. His work has been exhibited widely in juried shows, galleries in the Northeast, at the Connecticut State Building as well as Bradley International Airport showcasing Connecticut Artists.  Most recently his fiber clay creation, Yellow Begonia, won 3rd prize at the Hill-Stead Museum Invitational Show and is also included in the New Britain Museum of Art Juried show entitled, The Nor’Easter. Â
